San Pedro Office Building
Owner Harry Nash’s predicament had to do his current building sewer lines. The project had been laying dormant for over a year since SAWS had come to look at the issue and literally capped off the sewer to his building. Raw sewage was dumping into a pit and collecting. Another contractor advised him the sewer line could not be repaired, suggesting instead he abandon it and just run a new line.
Our company took the necessary step-by-step initiatives to investigate the existing line to see if it could be salvaged. We started by cleaning out the sewage pit and evaluating the situation. With the sewage pit cleaned out everything was exposed, we could see the other utility lines and establish what there was to work with. There were two options: hand digging or hydro excavating. Obtaining a price for both we discovered hydro excavation was not only half the cost, but it would also take just one third of the time to complete. A plumber installed 2 clean outs so a camera could be inserted to check the sewer lines for damage. However it was discovered that the lines were so full of debris a camera could not be used at that point. We brought in a hydro blow out company to clear the clogged lines and were then able to inspect the sewer lines with the camera to discover that it was not damaged and could be used immediately.
It took KEGLEY, Inc. only a few short weeks to preform a full evaluation of the situation, determine the steps to tackle that situation, and get it done! Contrary to the other Contractor’s opinion that the line was irreparable, KEGLEY, Inc. revived the existing line, saving the owner $85,000 by not having to install a new sewer line.
